ALY'S STORY
I started my career as a real estate professional in 2015. Before this, I was a financial analyst with Suncor Energy and Husky Energy for 8 years. I graduated from the University of Calgary with a dual concentration in Mathematics and Chemistry.
2015 was the year our economy started to slow after the exceptional years from 2012-2014. While working at Suncor I started to complete my real estate licensing as the decline in the oil and gas market started to become more and more evident.
In 2015, I completed 3 transactions. It was a modest start at the time due to it being part-time for me.
I was then let go from my role at Suncor in March 2016. We had recently purchased our new home, which we took possession of in May and my second child was due in August.
Just to frame it for you, my wife works in oil and gas, and in 2016 we went from 2 secure high-paying roles to one commission income and maternity leave pay. I didn’t qualify for EI due to my real estate license and could not receive the benefit.
In 2016, I grew from 3 to 11 sales. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do to provide for your family. However, the average realtor does 7 transactions, which is below the poverty line when you consider expenses. I wanted to be successful.
In 2017, with my wife still on maternity leave until August, I went from 11 sales to 20 sales.
From then on, I have consistently completed over 20 transactions a year and have the great fortune of these predominately coming from repeat and referrals from my network.
The necessity to succeed has fueled my business and my strive for customer service and care for my clients have provided me with the means to continue on this journey.
I hope I can have the opportunity to meet you and show you what I can do for you from my hungry to succeed and drive to provide the absolute best care.
Thank you,
- Aly
